Group C at Euro 2024 returns to action on Thursday with two games, the second of those is this one, where Denmark play England. The Danes failed to win their opener, a 1-1 tie with Slovenia was disappointing, while England did get a win, a 1-0 success over Serbia, although the performance wasn't anything special.
Denmark Form GuideA win on the opening day would have given Denmark a free hit here, a game they didn't need to take anything from against the group favourites. But with just one point from their opener, there's a little more pressure on them here to deliver. They set a fair level, however, I do think there's plenty of teams in this tournament that have a much higher bar.
That's what we saw in the opening game with Slovenia. Good play in small parts, but overall, there's a ceiling to their ability, and thy do look like a team lacking one or two additional top talents to take them to the next level. Of course, playing England here, the quality of opposition also goes up considerably.
England Form GuideEngland took three points from their opener, which was the aim, but the overall performance wasn't anything to shout about, there's plenty of work to be done there. The hope, and my expectation, is that they were easing into the tournament, and will improve with time, and show why many see them as favourites to win.
What we did see in the first half of that game, is that Jude Bellingham is an absolute superstar. He was brilliant, carried England forward and scored the goal that won them the game. They went defensive in the second half, we need to see more free flowing football so the likes of Bellingham can be seen to best effect.
Match PredictionI don't think we've seen the best of England yet, but I do think they can get another win on the board here. Denmark offer solid opposition, but they too struggled in their opening game, I think England will improve, and with that, I think they will take three more points here and go closer to the knockout phase.
